Milan Tram, Bay Bridge:

Quadtych, ( 4 panels)

24" x 36"

This piece was inspired by the concept of depicting multiple  San Francisco icons in one coherent and existing  image. One sunny Saturday down by the waterfront, the bright orange 'Milan Tram' was passing under the Bay Bridge in front of Pier 28. It was a classic SF moment. I went back a few times to wait for the tram to pass again, so I could fix the image in my mind, but it never did.

I also wanted to convey the feeling of old and new, multiple layers, and complex urban .

Green House Long, 30" x 12 "

Oil on Canvas

Green House, Long

30" x 12"

This dilapidated green house was our view from the back deck for 9 years. It would glow in the blue dusk light. I have often painted it but never with the adjacent view on the left towards downtown. I wanted to recreate the panoramic view at dusk that so inspired me.

One of the aspects which drew me to this  scene was the lights, both distant and near. I also was drawn to the peeling paint, old wires, and general decrepitude.
